One way HBW gives back is by preparing the next generation of engineers. Since 2020, HBW has partnered with the Ag and Biological Engineering Department at University of Minnesota by sponsoring senior design projects that are based on real life.
Student Made Microfiltration PID
Our students have recreated some of our best projects. This has allowed them to:
- Develop a conceptual design, challenging them to think about critical process parameters and the equipment necessary to control them.
- Develop a P&ID.
- Perform engineering calculations, including mass and energy balances, fluid hydraulics pressure drop calculations, and utility sizing.
- Size and specify all critical components based on critical process parameters and real life equipment dimensions.
- Produce a written process description of the required unit operations.
- Perform analyses of cost and safety.
